All-night video edits. Maxed-out credit cards. Comment-section haters. 15-hour workdays. Broken-down cars. The creator’s struggle is real. We know because we’ve lived it.

Global Village Television officially opened for business in 2012, but our story dates back to 2006 when we opened our studio in Downtown LA and 2007 when YouTube’s Partner Program empowered independent creators with the means to transform homegrown creativity into full-blown entertainment careers.

For Brenda Barsumian and Mehrdad Hosseini —Global Village Television co-founders —the program was a life-changing opportunity. It allowed them to earn a living as online comedy creators, while they produced their cartoon for TV and ran a popular production studio within the YouTube community. But it was the rise of predatory MCN contracts, low ad rates, and a glaring lack of creator support that revealed their true calling: helping fellow creators succeed creatively as well as financially. They teamed up with friend and YouTube network veteran, Cary Greene, and the rest is Global Village Television history.
